Every vehicle will have a flat tire at some point – sometimes at night, in a dangerous location, or in bad weather. That is why it is important for every driver to know what to do when faced with a flat tire.

First, get your car to the safest and most level, paved location that you possibly can with minimal driving. Turn off the engine, put on the safety brake, and brace your car with a heavy object against the tire on the opposite side of the flat tire. Loosen the lug nuts with the lug wrench but leave the nuts on the tire. Jack the car up to a point that the flat tire is off the ground. Remove the lug nuts and pull the bad tire straight toward you. Put your spare tire on the car and replace the lug nuts.

We here at Genesis of West Knoxville in Knoxville, TN want everyone to be safe on the road and bring your vehicle to us for regular tire wear checks and tire replacement when needed. If you have a flat, be sure and stop by immediately so you do not drive around without a dependable spare tire.
